Snow on the range
Late April snow brought an early start to the winter season to the Snowy Mountains for 2009. We had around half a meter of snow on the road beyond Charlotte Pass
and the early skiing conditions were great.Cold night temperatures and warm days have brought spring like conditions and skiers have been enjoying a few turns to clean out the cobwebs from the long summer.
We had quite a few people through the shop renting snowshoes and they were glad they took them on their walks to the summit. The metal track from Thredbo is clear of snow now, but it was covered after the storm that brought the snow.
Here are a couple of pictures from the north side of the Snowy River at Charlotte Pass, taken on Sunday 3 May. Plenty of snow still on the ground and if it holds till the next fall it will be a great base for the season.
Thanks to Mike Edmondson for the photos, see more of Mike’s picutes at his Gallery web site on in our shop when you visit next
